This picture of trees was inspired by a black and white photo by Ansell Adams of oak trees in a snowstorm in Yosemite National Park, California in 1948. The canvas was prepared using a new technique I developed where a mixture of materials was applied to the canvas to create a textured background. It was left to dry for 24 hours before a second coat was applied, and the bumpy texture created. I left this one in its original white state so that when I drew the trees on top the lines would break up and be deformed as if looking at the trees in a snowstorm.
