The second of the Kent Park walks, this painting shows an aspect of the park enclosed by
high walls and containing a single bench. It is a view of contrasts: the wall
and bench contrasting with the trees, bushes, flowers that grow wild and free around those man-made human structures. The background bushes cascading in bulk
and verdancy over the red brick wall contrasts with the delicate yellow flowers,
growing wild and untamed, surrounding a cultivated square of grass containing
the wooden bench.
