This is first in a series of paintings taken from photos whilst walking in a park in Kent. The arbour, a wooden structure in a garden, provided a contrast to the verdant nature surrounding it. I was attracted to the trees, bushes and the muted colours which grew in an arc over the arbour and sitting or standing in the arbour had a serenity and calmness about it. In this painting I wanted to capture the contrast of the hard wood alongside the delicate and the abundant flora surrounding it.
