This painting is a fairytale-like imagining of one of my favourite childhood books: 'The Magic Faraway Tree' by Enid Blyton. The depiction of the tree trunk, the leaves and other foilage were painted in a loose, impressionistic style to give a hint of otherworldliness. The overabundance of foilage contrasts with the lack of a focal point deliberately so the viewer's imagination has the opportunity to apply elements to the painting such as a fairy, a goblin, elf, children, animals etc. The ethereal element to this painting is it's unique selling point.
