This is a painting of a rose that attracted me because of the brightness of the colour pink. I particularly loved painting the shadows and tones to make it come alive on the canvas. It is an interpretation rather than a direct representation of the actual photo that I used to paint it. On one of my usual afternoon walks, this flower was one of many that I spotted, hanging over garden walls in my area of Roundhay, Leeds.
