I painted a Flamingo because, at that time, I felt emotionally vulnerable. I called the painting ‘Tranquillity’ because, particularly in the one leg pose, the Flamingo bird exudes peace and stillness which suggests the importance of keeping our emotional balance and maintaining a balanced life, getting rid of things that block your progress. This bird symbolises many important things but a few that resonated with me are the importance of expressing emotions and using our intuition. The Flamingo symbolises inner reflection and introspection and embodies the spiritual essence of love. For me, the Flamingo has a magical influence on me because of its amazing unusual and unique beauty. The mere appearance of Flamingos fills me with joy and happiness. I also admire the fact that Flamingos usually have lifetime partners, are devoted to their families and are caring and nurturing parents. I also like the fact that Flamingos live in big communities and large colonies and they depend on each other to survive. This teaches us the importance of relying on the help and support of others and the benefits of achieving goals as a part of a team. These birds migrate over long distances and this teaches us determination and endurance to accomplish our goals in life. The Flamingo teaches you never to give up and endure when times are difficult because it is the only way to achieve what you want.
